December 13, 2010 - “We’re very pleased,” said Linda Braun, Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission (SaskFlax), referring to the December 10, 2010 announcement of federal financial assistance for the testing of flaxseed for planting and sale.
The new funding, allocated under the CAAP (Canadian Agriculture Adaption Program) will allow western Canadian flax producers to continue with the extensive Farm Stewardship Program and rebuild buyer confidence in Canada’s flax supply.
"The Government of Canada is to be commended for acknowledging this need and for supporting the efforts of individual flax producers, the Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission, the Flax Council of Canada and the Canadian flax trade," Braun said.
