SaskFlax adds two new Board advisors

February 10, 2009 (Saskatoon, SK) The Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission is pleased to announce that it has added two more specialists to its panel of advisors. Glenn Payne is the Provincial Specialist, Bio-Products while Venkata Vakulabharanam is the Provincial Specialist for Oilseeds with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture. Payne and Vakulabharanam join with Alvin Ulrich of Biolin Research and Gordon Rowland of the University of Saskatchewan as advisors to SaskFlax.

“I am so pleased with this partnership with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture,” said Linda Braun, SaskFlax Executive Director. “Bringing in Glenn and Venkata will provide the board with expert analysis and fresh perspectives that can only help the industry.”

Glenn Payne will focus on the developing a flax fibre industry in Saskatchewan, while Venkata Vakulabharanam will work on issues surrounding crop protection, agronomy and research.

The Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission works to promote production and value-added processing of flax in the province alongside our partners in the flax industry and other agricultural organizations to ensure quality flax and flax products worldwide.
