The Canadian Flax Industry Sustainability Visioning Project is part of a national initiative of the Agricultural Bioproducts Innovation Program (ABIP) to develop sustainable “biorefineries” for flax and hemp. Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission is cooperating with Natural Resources Canada and Natural Ag-Fibers Green Economy Network (NAFGEN) and several industry stakeholders.
The three-year project aims to develop a strategy for the flax industry built upon the three pillars of sustainability: environmental protection, social development and economic growth. The process takes industry stakeholders through a series of steps:
- background reading
